Marc Rebillet

You guys remember not too long ago when the world came to an absolute standstill and we all had to stay indoors because there was a whole fucking pandemic on the go? You guys remember being indoors all day? Having to wash your hands and your groceries and pretty much anything that came in and out of your house? I remember this very well.

I had just gotten a dog at the time and before we went into lockdown, we would go for daily walks and that's when she would do her business. I'm made of actual cream cheese so I'm as soft as they come when it comes to my dogs and I saw absolutely nothing wrong with jumping up and going for a walk whenever the "I need to poo" whine would be dropped. What my princess wants, my princess gets. She be poopin' and peepin' and would only do it if we'd been walkin'. She wouldn't do it otherwise. Leave her outside all day and there would be no movements at all. This then began our covert missions to go toilet. We would go for a short toilet walk early in the morning and then a second one very late into the night. Those were the only two consistent things in my life at the time. That and Marc Rebillet streams.

I first came across Marc during another day of lockdown where I was basically doing nothing besides doomscrolling and trying very hard to distract my mind from what was happening out there in the world. I saw a clip from one of his livestreams on Facebook and found it absolutely hilarious. If you don't know who Marc is, he's an American electronic musician and YouTuber better known as the Loop Daddy to those who are familiar with his stuff. His music is defined by his use of a Boss RC-505 loop station, which allows him to layer his voice with keyboards, tambourines, and other hand percussion instruments. Most of his songs are improvised, and include elements of funk, soul, hip hop, and house music, as well as comedy skits.

Here was a guy putting on a show from his living room and giving us a whole bunch of insane energy and a brief escape from what was going on around us. I was completely hooked. Not only was he entertaining but his music was fucking insane. The way he'd take a suggestion from stream and then do some techno wizardry with his loop machine and create a musical masterpiece was absolutely incredible to me. This guy made the funkiest, sexiest music and when the world feels like it's about to end, we all know a little bit of sexy is always needed. Why do you think we have so many Quarantine Babies popping up? I would spend a lot of time going back and watching his live streams and his videos on YouTube from his live performances in bars. The man is built for entertainment and every performance is like a sexually charged funk snowflake, completely unique each time.

I've used a few of his songs in my Valentine's playlist. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favour and check him out.
